Yordani Garcia became the first man to score over 8000 points in the Decathlon this year as he tallied 8381 (10.5, 7.22, 15.78, 2.04, 49.1/14.2, 46.79, 4.90, 64.68, 4:43.5) at the International Barrientos Memorial in Havana, Cuba.

World and Olympic medallist Leonel Suarez was resting from his world indoor championships debut. First day leader Junior Diaz dropped out after completing the Discus. He had failed to finish the 110m Hurdles.
