Some lists on the internet are showing the best combo sprinters and best combined jumpers. This lists use WA (former IAAF) scoring tables different to the ones we know as the points system for combined events (or for decathlon, heptathlon and pentathlon as we know it for women and men). They even give points for the points a multi eventer skilled. How about a list of jumpers with the pole vault (plus long and high jump)?
Some considerations. One. Available lists do not add the pole vault because as they say “otherwise it would be a short list indeed”.
Two. We have lists of world records for the combination long jump, high jump, pole vault in decathlon and heptathlon but not those with the sum of personal bests like they can be found on internet from athletes on the international scene. Here we try to give those lists.
Three. Decathletes often try also the triple jump (like they also occasionally run a 200 m and/or a 400 m hurdles). So lists can be made with the triple jump but the scoring tables for the triple jump will be taken from the Icosathlon (double decathlon) scoring table[1].
Four. With 4 events, 11 combo’s of pb’s can be made (1x4 events, 6x2 ev, 4x3 ev). We will give one for the decathlon jumps and one with the four events (including the triple jump), both based on lifetime bests.
Last weekend ( 02 02 2025) Sander Aae Skotheim did not only break the European heptathlon record, he also became the World’s best jumper for heptathlon[2] but also turn out to be the personal-best-total record holder for the long jump, high jump and pole vault as well as this three combined with the triple jump.
