Decathlon world all-time list (10)

Dave Johnson, the total is 8727, long jump 7.52 with wind 4.5,
but total wind legal 0.4+4.5+0.3= 5.2 < 6.0

Dave Johnson’s result dates back to 1992. The maximum wind permitted then was 4.0 m/s and if the tail wind exceeded this number even during just one event, the results were not registered as records. The rule which says that one should first see whether the wind during any event exceeds 4.0 m/s and if so then also calculate the average score (that in this case must not be more than 2.0 m/s), did not come into effect until 2002.

It was great just looking at the all time lists and recalling how many of the great performances that I have been lucky enough to have seen! I love the decathlon and heptathlon, and we will continue to support them at our key titles, including American Track & Field magazine.

What do you think about a World all-time list "Championships" ?
Competing under championship conditions appears to be a lot harder (tough time schedule/ limited warm-up space/ long distances to coaches/ staff, ...) than competing under "ideal conditions", where everything gets done to support the decathletes.
Taking this into account, a list of top results completed in olympic games and/or world championships might tell us a lot about the Decathlon World all-time best performers.

Due to a higher control level at big events we can further expect these results to be less doping influenced than results at any other time in the year.

@Janek: so Johnson's 8727 became legal in 2002 and are still legal after the rule change in 2010 (only average < + 2.0 m/s decisive)?

Some of the points became wind-assisted in 2010, i.e. Huffins's 8694 (3.5/2.5/1.0)

Of course we can keep the list according to the rules that were valid at the time the results were achived.

When I calculate the points for all this table, I have 2 different results :
Ramil Ganiyev 8444 instead of 8445. (round error ?)
and
Aleksandr Grebenyuk 8492 instead of 8400. (old table ?)

Ganyev : 14.34 110H (4089 second day)
Grebenyuk 8400 points (table '84)/8478 (table 64'). Hand timing. I don't understand 8492 points
