The European Cup Combined Events Second League took place in Monzón, Spain, on 1-2 July. 58 athletes took part in the competition, with five teams in both categories competing for the top two places in the team competition which would earn them promotion to next year’s First League.

In the men’s competition, Belgium won by nearly 900 points with a total score of 22699 points, thanks to their leading athletes finishing in first, second and sixth positions. Second was Sweden with 21827 points and they will also compete next year in the First League.

Francois Gourmet (Belgium) was the individual overall winner with 7882 points, thus achieving the qualifying standard for the European Athletics Championships. Darius Draudvila of Lithuania was the leader before the pole vault where he had three failures at 4.20m.
