Kristjan Rahnu’s hopes run high as he faces the season’s most important competition in Gothenburg, Sweden. He has fully recovered from the Achilles tendon injury. "Recently I‘ve sprinted and run hurdles quite a lot and my sprinting speed is great," the Estonian decathlete said happily after yet another training. "Speed comes first for me, but I still have to work on the other events a bit."
Rahnu, who scored 8526 in decathlon last year, has failed to reach the European Championship’s qualification standard this year. After the Estonian Championships, however, the Council of the Estonian Athletic Association decided unanimously that Rahnu, as one of Estonian medal hopes, competes in Gothenburg on the basis of his last year’s result.
